Come Learn About 2e! My Conversation with Dr. Matt Zakreski

What does it mean when someone is both gifted and neurodivergent?

This is often described as twice-exceptional, or 2e—and it was the focus of a wonderful conversation I had with Dr. Matt Zakreski on Exploring Different Brains.

Dr. Matt is a clinical psychologist, speaker, and author whose work focuses on giftedness and neurodivergence. During our conversation, we explored what 2e really means, why giftedness and areas of challenge can sometimes mask one another, and what happens when we focus too heavily on either a child’s strengths or their struggles without recognizing the whole person.

One idea I especially loved exploring was the seeming contradiction that many 2e kids live every day: they can be incredibly capable and deeply vulnerable at the same time.

Understanding that complexity can change the way we support neurodivergent kids—in our classrooms, clinics, homes, and communities.

Whether the term “2e” is already part of your vocabulary or completely new to you, I hope you’ll join us for the conversation!
